Unless it is like a VP station that consistently monitors their levels, they just get whatever comes down the pipe. Because of high tolerance in the regulations you could get a wide variety of ethanol contents. Like Samsung-Z says, you could run fine and have no problem for years. You could also hurt your motor. Some people are fine taking the "risk" because they don't really see it as one. There are a lot of people here that want to see the tech developed a little more before they do so. I personally love the idea of running E85, but will be getting a Haltech and flex fuel sensor before I do. Part of why I will be doing that is because I'm a data nerd, also I don't want to be stranded without an E85 station.
